Government Function Empty

The Ashla Legion is based upon the tenets of a Democracy and functions as a true Republic, wherein each member has a voice as a member of the Senate. To put it simply, the guild members are the Senate and represent the majority. Each member is a valued asset regardless of postings or billets held. While a hierarchy does exist between divisions, no one person has absolute power, to include the Chancellor. With exception to commands issued on the battlefield or within roleplay, no decision is made without either the consent of the governed via a majority two-thirds vote. The only caveat being that the Chancellor may exercise his or her right to veto with a two-thirds majority from the Chancellor's Council and only if and when a motion is passed that may be a detriment to the guild.

Postings and Billet assignments are made by appointment with Senate approval. Any member who has specific talents or has demonstrated skills may be nominated for any position by any member of the Senate. Postings and Billets exist only to for the ease of administration and carry with them a great deal of responsibility, hence; nominations should be carefully considered. Postings and Billets do not exist to establish an elite hierarchy, but to provide a clear table of organization and means to address any issues that present themselves in a quick and efficient manner.

Rank exists only in Roleplay and is dynamic for in-game out-of-charcater (OOC) purposes such as: PVP or PVE. For example, a member may be a Jedi Master or a Colonel in-character (IC); however, on the PVP field or on PVE raids, the member with the most experience or talent will take precedence over roleplay rank and assume 'command' of the group.

Ashla Legion's government is designed to be self-governing, self-sufficient and function with minimal effort to allow the members to focus more on gameplay. Real Life is always the priority, and as such, there are no minimum activity requirements for either gameplay or forum posting. Second to that, freedom is our next highest priority. The freedom to play as you see fit, play when you want and how you want shall not be infringed so long as it does not adversely affect the functions of the guild. Individual freedom comes with accountability and the expectation that each member must put the interest of the guild before they act for themselves. This is a time-proven concept that has worked well for nearly a decade in other MMO's and it's success depends upon you, the Senate.
